Switzerland is a direct democracy. Citizens can regularly vote on the built environment, at communal, cantonal and national levels. Young people need to know all about sustainable housing so that they can play their part in the decision-making of the future.
WohnRaum heightens pupils’ awareness of social, ecological, economic, historical, artistic and civic issues. This package of teaching materials makes it possible to teach comprehensive lessons in 10 subjects. Subject-specific, interdisciplinary and in
WohnRaum comprises six folders on separate themes, each with four pages of introductory information, six double pages with the prepared lessons and four pages of teaching materials to photocopy.
Teachers decide themselves which modules they want to teach. Anything is possible, from 2 to 120 lessons. The preparatory materials for lessons comply with the syllabuses.
The teaching materials are offered by the Federal Office for Housing. The authors are an architect and a teacher from the SPACESPOT educational initiative. Professional associations for the built environment support SPACESPOT.
SPACESPOT raises public awareness of sustainable housing and building. SPACESPOT runs projects at all school levels. SPACESPOT has tested WohnRaum in numerous school classes.
